In the global coverage of climate change, what ordinary people are having to grapple with is what they will have to give up. In this video Tim Brown talks about moving “from what we will give up toward what we will create.” By framing the climate change issue in a different way, a whole new opportunity for creative problem solving is opened up. Rather than focusing on how much of our living standard or convenience we may lose, we ought to think about the new breakthroughs that may come about because we part from old processes and behaviours.
This highlights the fact that we need to be careful how we frame problems. If we get it wrong, sometimes we can hamper our own creative problem-solving capacity.
